That’s funny you mentioned the MSMA…my advisor at Tufts who helped to start the health communication program…helped to create the forum. The idea is that there would be local chapters of the national association. And like the intuitive leadership fostered in Boston, MSMA created while the national figured itself out. There are so many terminologies related to social marketing per se. One thought is recognizing what will be the next wave in the field given the creation of the National Center for Health Marketing at CDC. Health marketing is broad and can be confused with the healthcare and medical marketing groups – very clinical focused. Whereas the social marketing world is more preventive focused and broad to capture other areas. However so can health if given the right debater.
