I believe that Obama’s appeal to the younger audience definitley helped with his online campagining success. Although, it could also be said that Obama’s online campagin strategy is what helped to making him appealing to a younger audience. In which ever case, I feel that Obama used Social Media effectively, it let Americans feel as though they had and have a more active role in making governmental and social changes.

The success of the Obama Campaign will be fodder for the next century’s dissertations, there is so much to analyze. I’m personally still intrigued by what the campaign did with social media, because I don’t think that we have fully understood *that* yet.

There are two elements of the Campaign that stuck me as different and important. One was the way that the campaign helped many of us feel like we were no longer alone in our views and values. The other is that the Campaign asked people to ‘come out’ and share themselves.

Watching the campaign play out here in Australia (where voting is compulsory by the way), from a marketing point of view “brand” Hollywood not only supported Obama but encouraged people to vote – in particular the young generation. Not only did they make voting seem like a cool thing to do, but they stressed the importance of of having your say. This was a huge win! I am very pleased with outcome : )
