Thanks Jacque! Speaking of going where people are, I was in line for a vehicle emissions test today and your comment came to mind. A half hour spent in line–and no public health messages were to be found anywhere (besides one sign asking people to recycle their cellphone).

I think this research also highlights the importance in knowing one’s audience. And that tech isn’t always the sexy option–to me, “sexy” is being able to measure your work and see the impact you’re having. I also think this research highlights a huge opportunity for educators, entrepreneurs and others in finding innovative solutions to bridging both the health and the digital divides.

Glad the post got you thinking–That’s one of the best compliments I could hear!

Great post Alex. I’ve been out for a couple weeks, this was a great piece to get me thinking again.

I think this research highlights how important it is to develop integrated social marketing campaigns with grassroots, traditional, and new media components. We have to get to people where they are–even if that’s bringing the technology to them. It makes me think of all the places where people have to wait for long periods of time, such as the Social Security office, DMV, and pharmacy, and how we can use that time for health education.
